Does Acupuncture Hurt?
Acupuncture needles are very thin and smooth,so when they are inserted you feel only a slight sensation or nothing at all. Once the needles are in place, you may feel a sensation of heaviness, warmth or tingling at and around the site
of the needle.

Is Acupuncture Safe?
When performed by a qualified (several years of TCM study), Board Certified TCM Doctor and Licensed Acupuncturist, acupuncture and related techniques have proven to be extremely safe and effective Needles are pre-sterilized and disposable to eliminate the risk of disease transmission.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
The number of treatments you will need depends on your overall health, your body's response to acupuncture treatment, and the nature and duration of your illness or injury. TCM and acupuncture works best with sudden onset or acute illnesses and as a preventative care medicine. Usually within 4 to 6 treatments your TCM doctor will be able to tell you how much further treatment you will need.

Is Acupuncture Covered by Insurance?
Contact your insurer directly to find out if your plan covers acupuncture. You may also seek
reimbursement from your Flexible Spending or Medical Savings Account through your employer.
Medicare and Medicaid do not cover acupuncture at this time.

What is Chinese Herbal Medicine?
Chinese Herbal Medicine can greatly enhance the effects of acupuncture, especially in the treatment of chronic disease where daily therapy is crucial to achieving significant and lasting relief. If your TCM doctor or acupuncturist feels that Chinese herbs would be useful to you, he or she will prescribe an herbal formula designed to meet your individual health
needs. He or she will monitor the effects of your prescription, making adjustments as needed to
minimize side effects and maximize your healing. Chinese herbal formulas typically consist of two or
more single herbs carefully chosen to enhance and balance one another while targeting both the symptoms and the underlying cause(s) of your condition. Formulas may be administered as raw ingredients to boil into a tea, powders to mix with water, ready-made tinctures, capsules or pills. Although the side effects of Chinese Herbal Medicine are minimal compared to Western pharmaceuticals,it is still potent medicine and should only be prescribed by a Board Certified, Licensed practitioner of Chinese Herbal Medicine.
